Here we go again... hopefully

Well. It has been quite awhile since I've blogged - and I must admit I am not good at finding time for this. We have had a few changes in the family since I last wrote - mainly the addition of Maya Noel on Nov 2 2011! She is beautiful and thriving just as she should. I am going to try my best to keep up with blogging at least once a week and get some pictures of the family on here!
If you used to follow me, I apologize. Here goes attempt #2!!

Survived the Fourth of July

Well. We had a fabulous 4 day weekend! We ended up going to several BBQs and had fun with our friends - as it should be. We survived the crazy southern heat and humidity - Jacob even went in his first bouncy castle (much to my chagrin) with Kris on Friday. I hear he had a great time. We didn't get any pictures of all three of us in our 4th of July outfits - of course we all matched - the classic Old Navy T's... It was great. We were having too much fun with our friends and coralling the baby to think to take pictures. Sorry guys. We hope you had a wonderful 4th of July as well.

Big news: Just shy of his 9th month, Jacob has hit a new milestone. He has mastered getting up onto his knees!!! You may not think this is a milestone - however - this does open new doors for trouble! I walked in this afternoon to get Jacob from his morning nap to see this:

The kid is QUITE pleased with himself. He was able to pull on his mobile and make it play music - which he absolutely loves. Thus leading to us lowering his crib to the next setting down. We shall see what this brings in the morning - frustration or attempts to stand on his feet! He's getting so big already - slowly growing out of his 12 month clothes, which means we're almost into 18 month clothes at 9 months!! Who's child is this?! He's still so much fun - really enjoys crawling around after Comet. In fact, he was delighted to pet comet this afternoon.

4th of July Weekend

It's the weekend of the Fourth of July. Kris is actually home for once and I don't know what to do with him here for four days in a row! We'll probably start out with the intentions of weeding the yard, cleaning the house and doing laundry - but will end up playing with Jacob and BBQing with friends all weekend. Not a bad way to go. We've decided to rip out part of our 250 square foot flower bed and minimize it so the weeding isn't so daunting. Maybe we'll get to that when it isn't 100 degrees outside.

Jacob has had quite a week - he is army crawling now. He has been doing this for a few weeks, but the other day he wore holes in the big toes of one of his pajamas! I have never felt like I was not clothing my child well enough until I saw his little toes worn through the footies of his pjs! He was quite pleased and continued to cruise. Needless to say I went out yesterday and bought more pajamas.

Not too much else going on for us right now. Just trying to enjoy life while its still calm down here.

Finally Blogging

So, I have decided to try blogging. I don't know how I feel about blogging, but we shall give it a try. I don't know how much time I have to blog or how realistic this idea is, but I never know until I jump in feet first.

Lately, I have been busy with Jacob. He is now 8 months old and is crawling (army crawling) everywhere. His favorite target is Comet's kennel, or Comet's feet - not a favorite for Comet. Though the dog does handle the invasion of space surprisingly well, we are trying to teach Jacob to be gentle and nice to the dog. We'll see how it goes.

Here are a couple of recent pictures of Jacob - he had just turned 8 months old (born Oct 14, 2009) and my friend Andrea took some great shots of him for me.
